Vir Biotechnology (Vir), a San Francisco company focused on developing cures for infectious disease, seeks a Manager, Research Operations. Reporting to the SVP Research Operations and working closely with the EVP Research & Chief Scientific Officer, you will focus on supporting research management across Vir’s early stage research programs. Being the right-hand to the SVP Research Operations, you’ll work with a variety of research teams to accelerate Vir’s growth.
Support leaders in the research organization to ensure research programs are properly planned, tracked, resourced and prioritized to maximize effective and efficient execution.
Develop and manage timelines for internal and external research programs
Create and maintain project plans, timelines, agendas, budgets, resourcing requirements, rolling summaries and other tools required to facilitate planning and coordination of deliverables for projects.
Develop tracking tools and support the maintenance and accuracy of key deliverables.
Coordinate with stakeholders across research to build highly compelling presentations for company-wide meetings, external, speaking engagements, and written communications.
Assist in the organization and preparation of grant and partnership proposals with academic institutions, government agencies, industry and foundations and oversee grant management activities for the research organization.
Support research leads in collaboration activities with external partners.
Support strategic projects as requested in partnership with Operations, Business Development, Finance, Clinical Development and Human Resource teams.
Collaborate with the program leadership function to ensure best practices are followed company-wide and that the organization is making the best use of tools and systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Exceptional project management skills, specifically timeline and budget development and oversight with hands-on experience from preclinical through early clinical development.
5+ years research project management or consulting experience in a relevant industry/academic setting with a focus in infectious disease.
BARDA, DARPA, NIH, or NGO grant experience is highly preferred.
Excellent oral, written and scientific presentation communication skills are required.

PhD (highly preferred) or MS in microbiology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related scientific field is required.
